Last time we mentioned a survey that you could use to gather feedback from your most recent hires in an attempt to understand how well your company is doing when it comes to onboarding new employees.
Below is that survey. Feel free to use it as is or edit it to better reflect what you most want to know….
Dear Name,
If we haven’t said it enough, welcome to [COMPANY]. We are truly glad you chose to be a part of our team.
Now that you have been with us for a couple of weeks, we would really like your feedback on your onboarding experience. We know that the first month or so of a new job can be exciting, stressful and quite frankly, overwhelming. We are looking to reduce some of that new-job anxiety by gathering feedback from new employees like yourself.
We hope you will be open and honest answering these questions. Your responses are 100% confidential and your candid answers will help us continue to refine our hiring and onboarding process.
It’s just [INSERT #] questions so it shouldn’t take that long to complete.
[OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS]
- How long would you say your onboarding lasted?
- What is the #1 frustration or concern you had during your onboarding?
- Did you do anything to try and address or eliminate this frustration or concern?
- If you had a Magic Wand, and could re-do your first couple of weeks here, what would you change?
[YES OR NO QUESTIONS]
- Did anything during the interview process surprise you?
- Did we describe what it’s like to work here accurately?
- Did we cover everything you wanted us to cover during orientation?
- Did you feel welcomed during your first day? Your first week? If not, what would have helped you
feel more welcome? - Do you feel like you have all the tools you need to succeed?
- Do you feel like you understand what we’re about?
- Are there any processes here that you think we should improve on?
- Is there anything we should have asked about in this survey that we didn’t?
