Let’s face it…most of us were never taught how to handle conflict well. So given our DISC style, we may confront, put up with or avoid conflict altogether. Find out how you handle naturally handle conflict in this article…

You can see from these tendencies that we may not know how to handle conflict in a constructive way. It seems like we either avoid it or when we try to handle it, we handle it badly.

Why is this? The easy answer is that we were never taught how to deal with conflict in a healthy way.

Most of us learned from our parents’ example that you either yelled or you shut down in the face of confrontation. It even goes deeper if you were taught the scriptural admonition to “turn the other cheek.”

So how can we overcome our natural tendency of being too passive or too aggressive when it comes to dealing with conflict? (Not sure of your natural tendency? Take the self-assessment in the next article.)
